Catenary Animations

This Mathematica notebook generates the animations for the demo, The Utility of Catenaries to Electric Utilities.

Loads colors (need brown for pole)

In[1]:=

<<Graphics`Colors`

Set up module for generating the graphics.

In[107]:=

RowBox[{wire[h_, opts___], :=, RowBox[{Module, [, RowBox[{{a, s, c, p1, p2}, ,, , RowB ... 54; {{-80, 80}, {0, 110}}, opts, DisplayFunctionIdentity, ImageSize400]}]}], ]}]}]

Make a table for the graphs.

In[108]:=

graphs = Table[wire[n], {n, 26, 99, (99 - 26)/15}] ;

Show graphics array.

In[109]:=

toshow = Partition[graphs, 2] ; Show[GraphicsArray[toshow]] ;

[Graphics:HTMLFiles/index_5.gif]

Set up animation.

In[111]:=

Do[wire[n, DisplayFunction$DisplayFunction, ImageSize300], {n, 26, 99, (99 - 2 ... ire[n, DisplayFunction$DisplayFunction, ImageSize300], {n, 99, 26, -(9 - 26)/59}]
